Release 2026/08: New Navigation, AI Translations, Copilot Groups & More

Release notes for Foodback 5.0.0, released August 26 2026.

Written by Daniel Chaibi

šŸŽ‰ What's New in Foodback 5.0.0

Version 5.0.0 is our biggest release this year. A new navigation, AI-powered translations, a smarter Copilot, click analytics and a redesigned Groups page, plus a long list of refinements underneath.

🧭 A Brand-New Way to Navigate

The application shell has been reorganised from the ground up. Primary navigation now lives in a slim, icon-first left rail, so more of your screen is free for the thing you actually came for: your data.

  • Hover to explore, each rail item reveals its sub-sections in a pop-out, so you can see where you are going before you click

  • The account and venue switcher moved into the header, redesigned so you can drill from an account into its venues and search across both

  • Switching context keeps your place. Move to another account or venue and you stay on the same page, as long as it exists there and you have access. Previously you always landed back on the Pulse scoreboard

  • Global search, jump straight to an account, venue or page by typing its name. It finds your way around Foodback, it does not search your feedback

  • Your profile menu sits at the bottom of the rail as a pop-out

Nothing changed about what any destination does. Everything is where it always was, just easier to reach.

šŸŒ AI-Powered Translations

Foodback has always had strong language support, but filling in every translation was entirely manual work. Not anymore.

  • An AI translate button now sits in the translation workflow you already know, and fills in your other active languages from your base language

  • Works across Pulse questions, One More Question, Campaigns and Flexible Portal widgets

  • You still have the final word. Nothing goes live until you review and save it

Adding a fifth language to a survey used to be an afternoon. Now it is a click and a read-through.

AI translate is part of Foodback Intelligence. If your account does not have Foodback Intelligence enabled, translations work exactly as they did before.

šŸ¤– Copilot Understands Groups and Summarises Campaigns

Two significant additions to Foodback Copilot.

  • Groups awareness. If you use Groups to segment your units by region, concept, size or anything else, Copilot now understands that structure. Ask it which group performed best over the last six months, compare groups against each other, or ask for aggregated numbers per group. Available in account context

  • Campaign summaries. Copilot can now summarise an entire Campaign, not just the free-text answers inside it

If your access covers only some of the units in a group, Copilot will tell you so clearly rather than answering from partial data.

šŸ—‚ļø Groups, Redesigned

Groups have been part of Foodback since 2019, and the bigger your account, the more the old page got in your way. It has been rebuilt.

  • A master-detail tree that shows your categories and groups at a glance

  • Inline category management, create and rename without leaving the page

  • Bulk venue assignment, so setting up a group with thirty units is no longer thirty separate actions

Creating a group and assigning units to it are now two clearly separate steps, which is how most people were trying to use it anyway.

šŸ“ˆ See What Gets Clicked

The most common question we get about advertisements and Flexible Portal widgets has been the same one: is anyone actually clicking these? Now you can see for yourself.

  • Advertisement clicks are tracked and shown as click counts and a timeline in your ads overview

  • Flexible Portal widget clicks are tracked per widget, with the account, venue and portal they came from

šŸ“ More Control Over Your Surveys

Two changes that remove us as the bottleneck.

  • Account Admins can add their own Pulse questions under Account → Surveys → Pulse. Pulse questions work as sentence completions, so the field guides you with a "How satisfied are you with…" prompt and a gentle nudge if you type a question mark. Regular users are unaffected

  • Live Campaigns can be edited. Once answers start arriving you can still change the name, dates, welcome screen, question text, images, translations, question order and answer wording. Things that would break your data, like changing question types or adding and removing answer options, stay locked

šŸ”€ Configure Your Pulse Categories

"Rename categories" has grown up. It is now Configure Categories, and it does three things:

  • Rename your categories, as before

  • Reorder them, so you decide the sequence your guests see

  • Randomise the order, which is new

Until now, every guest saw your Pulse categories in the same fixed sequence. With randomisation on, each survey gets its own order, while the overall experience question always stays first. The order is saved with the survey, so reopening the same link shows the same sequence and you can always see what a guest was actually asked. Which question represents each category still rotates exactly as it did before.

Randomisation is on by default. If you would rather your guests always see the same sequence, turn it off under Configure Categories.

šŸŽ” A Smoother Happy Wheel

The Happy Wheel has been rebuilt from scratch. Your guests get a smoother spin with a proper suspense tail, a subtle vibration as it passes each slice, an optional sound (off by default) and a glow on the winning slice. It is keyboard and screen-reader accessible, and it respects a guest's reduced-motion setting by going straight to the result.

Nothing about how prizes are decided or awarded has changed.

šŸ”Ž Clearer AI Labelling

Every place in Foodback where you see AI-generated output now says so in plain words, with a link to learn more, rather than relying on the Foodback Intelligence name to carry that meaning. This covers the sentiment and summary widgets, the analytics tables, Copilot and the email reports.

This brings us in line with the transparency rules of the EU AI Act, where the obligation sits with us as the provider. You can read our full position here.

šŸ› ļø Bug Fixes & Improvements

āš™ļø Under the Hood

Some of the most substantial work in 5.0.0 is work you will never see directly. We modernised large parts of the platform, rebuilt the shared foundations the whole application stands on, and tightened security and access along the way.

We do this deliberately and continuously. Staying current is what keeps Foodback fast, keeps your data safe, and is what lets us keep building the kind of experience you expect on top of it.
